Abstrakt

In order to win the permanent war with slow mass transport of analytes through the stagnant mobile phase located in pores of typical packings of chromatographic columns, which leads to undesirable peak broadening, both academic and industrial research recently came up with several interesting approaches. The present overview outlines the history of fight with diffusion, problem of the back pressure, and then briefly describes advantages and drawbacks of the applications of sub-2 μm packings, core-shell particles, high temperature, and monolithic stationary phases.
