Abstrakt

Although selenium ranks among essential elements, the range between concentrations with favourable and toxic effects on the human organism is relatively narrow. Determination of selenium in human hair was performed by AAS and supplemented by the hydride technique. By analysis of the obtained data it was found that the selenium content in female hair is generally lower than that in males of the same age category. The highest content was found in males under 50, the lowest in females over 50.
