Abstract

Knowledge of critical properties is useful for the calculation of many properties of compounds and for industrial processes exploiting the supercritical region. A review is presented about sources of experimental critical data and their recommended values. The most frequently used methods for the estimation of critical properties of pure compounds are given. The reliability of predictions of critical properties is discussed for the correlation methods used in extrapolation to higher members of homologous series.
